Introducing SQL Operations Studio

Join this session to learn about the new SQL Server database dev and ops tool, SQL Operations Studio. Ops Studio is a free and multi-OS tool running on Windows, macOS and Linux that support SQL Server running anywhere, Azure SQLDB and DW. SQL Operations Studio team will share their insights, the current state of the art and future.

Members of the SQL Tools Engineering Team:
Alan Yu – Program Manager – 4 Months at Microsoft. Working on SQL Operations Studio, SQL CLI Tools, SSMS Graduated from Seattle University majoring in Computer Science in June. Previously interned at Microsoft, T-Mobile, Weyerhaeuser, Lighthouse for the Blind, and University of Washington

Karl Burtram – Senior Software Engineer – 9 Years at Microsoft. Tech Lead for SQL Operations Studio project Working on SQL Tools for 2 ½ years. Worked on Visual Studio Platform team for previous 7 years.

Ken Van Hyning – Principal Engineering Manager – 17 Years at Microsoft. Dev manager for System Center Ops Manager. Moved to SQL Server in 2007. Worked on tools, SQL DB, portal tools, etc. Currently responsible for SQL client tools: SSMS, SSDT, PowerShell Module, sqlcmd/bcp, and new xplat tools: SQL Operations Manager and Python based CLI tools

This demo will be an introduction to BIML.
Business Intelligence Markup Language (BIML) is a scripting language that allows data developers to programmatically create SSIS packages and objects. This demo will include and overview of pre-requisites for installing BIML components, as well as a demo of SSIS package generation using BIMLExpress tools embedded in SQL Server Data Tools.
