Overview of the SQL Server Database Consolidation Appliance

The SQL Server team has come out with a series of appliances as part of the “ABC” strategy – Appliance, Box, and Cloud. The Database Consolidation Appliance (DBC) is the first implementation of the SQL Server for Private Cloud. In this talk, I will provide an overview and a brief technical drill-down into the DBC appliance, whose purpose is to virtualize SQL Server workloads.
Richard Waymire (Blog | LinkedIn) Richard Waymire is an Independent Consultant and Trainer on Microsoft SQL Server. He is also a mentor with SolidQ. Richard has been working on SQL Server since version 4.2. He worked for the Microsoft for 13 years, including a variety of roles in the SQL Server development team. He specializes in High Availability and Relational Data Warehousing, including the Fast Track reference architecture, DBC appliance, and SQL Server Parallel Data Warehouse. Richard is a contributing editor for SQL Server Pro, and has spoken at many conferences, including SQL Pass and TechEd.

Sachindra Berde, researcher at McAfee, will discuss and demonstrate various issues related to running SQL Server on multiple processor cores (parallelism).
Sachindra is currently the Sr. Database Architect Administrator for McAfee Labs, the R&D wing of McAfee Security. He has worked with various database for 17 years, and has been using MS SQL server since version 7. Sachindra has experience in managing databases and servers at large IT companies, the largest financial company in the US, and small non-profit research institutes.
