Jos de Bruijn
SQL Server 2014 In-Memory OLTP Overview and Key Concepts

In-Memory OLTP is a key feature in the In-Memory offerings of SQL Server 2014. We discuss the key user scenarios and the hardware trends that prompted the development of In-Memory OLTP. We will also introduce the new memory-optimized tables and natively compiled stored procedures, as well as the key memory and storage management concepts, and we will show how In-Memory OLTP can be used to improve the performance of a sample application.

Jos de Bruijn Jos is a Senior Program Manager in the SQL Server Database Systems team. He works on the Hekaton project, which brings the In-Memory OLTP database technology to SQL Server. His main focus is on query processing, programmability, and transaction semantics for memory optimized tables and natively compiled stored procedures. In a previous life, he obtained a Ph.D. in knowledge representation and semantic web technology, and worked in academia for several years as an assistant professor.
