Thanks to these efforts and the countless contributions from the SQL community around the world, we have already received 25 new PowerShell cmdlets and have been told to expect even more new cmdlets every month!
Vern Rabe
T-SQL For Accuracy and Performance
In this chapter, we will be discussing both the data cache and the plan cache. I’ll demonstrate how the data cache helps performance, how the plan cache helps performance, and how the plan cache can hurt performance. Parameter sniffing can result in sub-optimal performance based on the plan currently in cache, but how do you know what plans are currently in cache? I’ll demonstrate a simple way to see what plans are currently in cache, and show one way to control those plans to eliminate the poor performance that can be caused by parameter sniffing.
Vern (LinkedIn) is an independent SQL Server consultant and contract trainer in Portland, OR. He has attained MCSE, MCITP (both Administration and Development), and MCT certifications, among others. Vern has been working with databases since 1992, and has worked with SQL Server since version 4.21a. He provides broad technical SQL Server skills gained from the mixture of academic and practical experiences acquired from his classroom instructing and varied consulting contracts.
