Buck Woody:
The ‘Cloud’
Great – another buzzword. What is “the cloud”, and what are the differences between the vendors that provide it? Where can I use it? What is it for? Buck Woody, Microsoft’s Distributed Computing expert here in the Pacific Northwest will help unravel the terms, provide the use cases, and discuss the technologies behind this new/old way of computing. Systems and Data Architects, senior developers and technical managers will gain knowledge and resources they can use immediately to put Distributed Computing to work for their projects right away
Buck Woody has been working with technology for over twenty-five years, beginning as an administrator and trainer and moving to programming and database administration. He has worked for the U.S. Air Force, at an IBM reseller, and for NASA and U.S. Space Command. He has been a DBA and Database Developer on everything from an Oracle system running on a VAX to SQL Server and DB2 installations. Buck has a business degree and several industry certifications, including MCSE, MCDBA and Brainbench DBA, has led database classes at the University of Washington, and is the author of over 300 SQL Server articles and four published SQL Server books.
Buck was awarded the Microsoft MVP Award in 2006 for SQL Server and started work in the SQL Server Team at Microsoft a year later. He is currently a SQL Server Technical Specialist at Microsoftl

April 13, 2011: Yi Liao, SQL Azure Reporting Team –SQL Azure Reporting
This session will provide a brief introduction to the SQL Azure Reporting service that was announced at PDC 2010. We will outline the scenarios that will be enabled in SQL Azure Reporting v1 and discuss capabilities supported in this version. This session is a great forum to provide feedback on future direction of SQL Azure Reporting to help you address your business needs.

May 11, 2011: Tim Lafferty, MS E/F Team: Code First Development in Entity Framework 4.1
Entity Framework (EF) is making it easier than ever to build data-centric applications as quickly as possible. A key piece to this is the new Code First workflow that enables a code-centric experience for interacting with models and databases. You’ll see how Code First uses convention over configuration to improve developer productivity. Its flexibility allows for either automatic database provisioning or the ability to work with an existing database.
