We are once again meeting in person in Vancouver, WA at the downtown Umpqua Bank in their Community Room!
We meet on the 3rd Wednesday of the month once again at 6:00 PM PST. We will have snacks and networking before the main meeting.
But… we will continue to operate monthly online meetings through the PNW collaborative facilitated by the Oregon Data Community. Due to this, you will be able to attend the meeting remotely and we are definitely open to remote speakers.

Title: Team Coding Standardization: Albatross or Advantage
Abstract:
In this session, Arnie will discuss the impact of establishing Standards for T-SQL Code, and how rigorously enforcing those Standards with meaningful Code Reviews may result in significant monetary savings. By implementing Coding Standardization logic errors are exposed, the continued use of soon to be deprecated features can be avoided, and new Team members are quickly productive. He will delve into issues related to establishing organizational coding standards, overcoming Developer resistance, mentoring Developers, proving value to management, the necessity of management buy-in and support, and using various using tools. Arnie will discuss how one multi-national client decreased time to implement while saving millions of dollars in development costs in just a few years.
Bio:
During his career as a outspoken architect and application developer with very large databases, Arnie [LinkedIn] realized that most issues between Developer and DBA comes from incomplete communication and a misunderstanding of each other’s primary directive. As a frequent Trainer and Mentor for Developers and Database Administrators, he has nurtured a knack for helping to ‘bridge the gap’. Arnie is a rare mix of expert developer and gifted database administrator, bringing both sets of skills to better communicate with development teams to create a working solution.
Arnie is a Microsoft SQL Server MVP and has been a Subject Matter Expert (SME) working on SQL Server 2000 thorough SQL Server 2012 training courses and has been involved as a SME with the development of the SQL 2005 through SQL 2012 Microsoft Certification Exams. He has been a Microsoft Certified Trainer for over a decade, and has served as a technical editor for several publishers, including multiple SQL Sever titles in the Microsoft Official Curriculum. Arnie has served as adjunct faculty at the University and Community College levels. Clients include Multi-National and Fortune 500 companies, Federal and State agencies, Foreign governments, nationally recognized training facilities, and local enterprises –both public and private.
