The Ultimate ETL Stored Procedure Template
Do you process data from externally sourced “landing” tables to “staging” tables? Or from “staging” tables to an ODS? Or from an ODS to a DataWarehouse? These processes are typically done with ETL (extract, transform, load) stored procedures. In this session we will build, one step at a time, the ultimate template that can be used to create all of these stored procedures. The template covers error handling, deadlock detection and recovery, the ever-important logging, transaction management, incremental loading, and more. Starting with a basic structure, we will step through adding features one at a time to the template, explaining each as we go.
Use some of the features or all of them – your stored procedures will be more stable, extensible, and troubleshoot-able.
